Here’s the agenda in case anyone wants to chime in remotely to this month’s video chat (Feb 3, 9am PT), in case this helps decide on attendance. I’ll write up a short followup after the meeting on whatever we did, including potential open voting polls on Discord. [Not sure if there’s a way to vote on Substack that will be compatible, but we can check on that.]
1. Official Non-Profit status. Board. Officers. etc...
** The Guild is officially a California non-profit now, applying for tax-exempt status TBD later this year. We need some additional officers selected in the next 30-60 days. I can’t fill in all roles. Other open topics:
a. T-Shirts / logo?
b. Planning for a June Unconference?
2. Report back on Anti-Trust Questions
** In a nutshell, the DOJ guidelines are pretty reasonable. We’ll want a trained observer (lawyer or trained civilian) in any policy meetings to avoid accidentally advocating for industry-wide policies that attempt to benefit or harm specific subsets of companies. We think we can train ourselves on this for a perhaps yearly legal fee vs. paying a lawyer to sit in every meeting. [Other organizations are more complicated than us in that membership is open to self-interested companies.]
a. Future observer training (how to not get in hot water)
3. Membership process:
** if we’re going to begin #4 below, we need to get #3 finalized
a. final tweaking of first principles for individual agreement.
b. Voting?
c. Dues?
d. Non-USA approaches?
4. Public Rollout of XR Guild
** Let’s Do This!
a. Website
b. Twitter
c. Discord
d. Substack
e. When?
Feel free to join us on the discord for a video chat (Feb 3, 9am Pacific Time) or email any questions here. This will serve a a good test of Substack’s threading and reply features.
